Standing like a tree
Zhan Zhuang is an ancient Chinese Energy Exercise based on a series of static postures.
We are Dragon Nation, and we offer health and wellbeing training programmes, suitable for anyone who cares about their mind and body.
This a tried and tested holistic approach to exercising, the way they used to do it way back when in ancient China. The system that has been handed down from Master to Student for the past 2,700 years.
All areas of human activity – physical, mental and spiritual – depend on the quality, abundance and free flow of our energy. The Zhan Zhuang Qigong (pronounced Jam Jong Chi Kung and commonly translated as ‘Standing like a tree’) training programme is based on a series of static postures and gentle movements; which are suitable for all ages, abilities and lifestyles. It helps relieve stress, tension and anxiety; relax and calm the mind; improve posture, balance and co-ordination; improve circulation, develop strength, stamina and flexibility. With dedicated personal practice, these simple exercises are the secret key for a healthy and happy and joyful life.
My aim is to (hopefully) follow in the footsteps of the great chi kung masters, healers and teachers, and to pass-on my knowledge and inspire the Nation of Wales to Get Up, Stand Still and Be Fit.
We offer everything from weekly community lessons to personal one to one training and corporate stress relieving sessions.
A little about the art of Zhan Zhuang...
Dragon Nation covers everything from weekly community lessons to personal training and corporate classes.
Through regular practice it can help relieve stress, improve posture, develop strength and more.
Over thousands of years, the knowledge of cultivating this inner power has been passed down from generation to generation in China.
Here’s a really interesting talk by Chungliang Al Huang at the TEDx Hendrix College on “Taiji” – the philosophy of the yin and the yang, which the art of Tai Chi Chuan is based upon. Huang uses calligraphy to paint five key Chinese characters and then he discusses their place in the interaction of yin […]
I began Qigong with Jack Bland during an episode of my life when I was at a very low ebb mentally and physically. I found that it helped me to calm my racing mind and relax which I hadn’t been able to do in a long time. My back pain and sleep both improved. Jack is a great teacher who makes the lesson fun. I would recommend (and often do) his Qigong lessons to anyone who need to find some peace and relief from the stresses of everyday life.- Helen
I loved your class Monday Jack. Stand Like A Tree Qigong was just so lovely……informal & fun, but I came away very relaxed & alert driving home. I totally get it now. It leaves a positive energy & lightness which makes you want to practice more.
Thank you Jack!! Ps I also had the best night sleep in ages!
Hi, I always leave Jam Jong classes with Jack with a great feeling of overall wellbeing. I come away happy, calm and rejuvenated and even my old injuries have somehow stopped aching.- Dan
